About Us

Changing the Nation Through Education

As our name implies, we are senior citizens who, though retired, found we could never really retire. With our high-caliber career graphs, we saw retirement as an opportunity to give back to society with dedication, commitment, and focus. We do this through Seniors For Change.

Seniors For Change was established in 2002. Though a chance encounter with a group of barefoot children on their way to school inspired our founders to hone in on education as one of our focus areas, today, “Empowering through Education” defines Seniors For Change. We consider it our responsibility to empower underprivileged children with the promise of a better life through education.

We achieve our goal with four schools in Bangalore (Urban), one school in Bangalore (Rural), and six colleges with three focused programs: The SFC Merit Scholarship Program, the SFC Model School Program, and the SFC Digital Education Program.

Changing the world we believe starts with changing lives. We are proud to say that our Education Programs touch the lives of 4000 Indian children in and around Bangalore annually.

Message From Chairperson

Dr. Atul Sinha

Chairperson | Seniors For Change

It’s such an honor to be part of Seniors For Change.

Grateful for the opportunities they received, our founders decided to return the favor. Thus, Seniors For Change was born to provide opportunities for the underprivileged. We are carrying their legacy forward today, and I am proud to say that our education programs touch the lives of over 4,000 children each year.

Our journey has been filled with incredible people. Volunteers who spend time in schools, encouraging young minds and guiding families to see the value of education for both sons and daughters.

We are grateful to our donors, whose support helps us make a real and lasting difference with every contribution. Our focus on empowering through education is helping entire families break the cycle of poverty.

Our scholars are shining examples of powerful agents of change. They inspire others in their communities to seek higher education, and some have even come together to provide scholarships to their juniors.

Working with bright, enthusiastic children brings a special joy. It’s a deeply rewarding experience to know you’re contributing to shaping their futures and learning from their resilience and determination.

We invite you to join us as a donor, volunteer, or member. To share in the joy of making a real difference in the lives of so many deserving children and their communities.

Stories of Change

What We Do

We empower underprivileged children through education with three strategically designed and professionally managed programs: the SFC Merit Scholarship Program, the SFC Model School Program, and the SFC Digital Education Program. Together, these three programs touch the lives of 4,000 children annually.

We implement these programs in 11 educational institutions: three Primary schools, two High schools and six colleges in Bangalore.

Besides our work in education, we also run a Humanitarian Program in a home for the destitute.

Education

Merit Scholarship Program

We provide scholarships to 700 underprivileged children annually, ensuring financial constraints don’t hinder education. Our Mentoring Scholars Project offers training in English, public speaking, CV writing, and career counseling. Over 6,000 recipients have become role models, uplifting their families and communities.

Model School Program

Since 2022, we’ve transformed three government schools into model institutions. With remedial classes, digital literacy, yoga, and co-curricular activities, we foster well-rounded growth. Infrastructure upgrades like libraries, labs, and clean facilities benefit 450 students. Graduates receive our merit scholarships.

Digital Education Program

We bridge the digital divide by setting up computer labs in seven institutions. With 225 desktops, 180 laptops, and NIIT-certified training, 4,000 students gain essential tech skills, preparing for future careers.

Humanitarian Home

Since 1979, AiR Humanitarian Home has provided shelter, nutrition, and medical care to 150 destitute individuals in Bangalore. Seniors For Change funds food, healthcare, and infrastructure, ensuring dignity and hope for those in need.
