“Education is the movement from darkness to light” - Allan Bloom

Why Education

Education is the reason for our existence, and if one were to ask why, it’s because our children come from low-income households. Their parents are typically construction and domestic workers, security guards, vegetable vendors, auto drivers, and farmers. Children are often first-generation learners. To cope with poverty, many of them work before attending school. SFC assists these children in completing their school education and helps them pursue higher studies. We firmly believe that education is the passport out of poverty for the children we support and their families. One educated child has the potential to inspire the children of an entire village to seek the light that education spreads.

What We Do

We empower underprivileged children through education. We implement three strategically designed and professionally managed programs in 11 educational institutions: the SFC Merit Scholarship Program, the SFC Model School Program, and the SFC Digital Education Program. Together, these three programs touch the lives of 4,000 children annually.

SFC Merit Scholarship Program

We firmly believe that financial constraints should never hinder access to education, so we aim to provide scholarships for at least 700 deserving underprivileged children each year. We enhance the program with the Mentoring Scholars Project to ensure that these scholarships lead to viable career paths. This initiative includes essential components such as remedial classes in spoken English, confidence building, public speaking, goal-setting, CV writing, interview skills, and career counseling. Over the years, more than 6,000 children empowered by our scholarships have become role models for their communities, successfully lifting their families out of poverty.

SFC Model School Program

Started in 2022, this program strives to transform three government primary schools into model schools: Domlur, Doopanahalli, and Appareddypailya Primary Schools. Based on the premise that a strong primary education is the cornerstone of higher academic excellence, we have set up remedial classes to impart age-appropriate competence in languages, arithmetic, and digital competence and introduced yoga and co-curricular activities to improve self-regulation and develop a well-rounded personality. We have also provided these schools with much-needed infrastructure such as an activity room, lunchroom, library, science labs, computer labs, safe drinking water, and clean toilets. The program benefits 450 children. The three schools we have adopted feed into Domlur High School. We award our merit scholarships to the graduates of this school.

SFC Digital Education Program

Recognizing that digital literacy is essential to thrive and survive in today’s professional landscape, we aim to establish computer labs in seven institutions we support. These include the schools we sponsor and the colleges attended by those graduating from these schools. This is based on the belief that digital learning must commence in primary school and continue to higher education. Our goal is to set up 225 desktop stations and distribute 180 laptops. Our teachers and a partnering NGO deliver training based on the NIIT curriculum, allowing students to obtain NIIT certification. The program positively impacts 4,000 children.
